Colorado Springs: Black Forest Road striping to cause alternate lane closures on Sunday, Dec. 8

Trending...
Alternating short ~ According to a recent press release, the final road striping at the intersections of Black Forest Road and Woodmen Road, as well as Vollmer Road and Research Parkway, is set to be completed on Sunday, December 8th. This is, of course, dependent on weather conditions.

To facilitate the road striping process, there will be alternating short-duration lane closures on Woodmen Road and Black Forest Road starting at 6:30 a.m. and continuing until approximately 12 noon. However, one eastbound and one westbound lane on Woodmen Road will remain open for traffic during this time. Similar short-duration lane closures will also occur throughout the day at Vollmer Road and Research Parkway.

The project, which has been funded by the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority (PPRTA) "A" List of projects, aims to widen Black Forest Road to two lanes in each direction from Woodmen Road to north of Research Parkway. The completion of this project is currently on track for the end of 2024, with final punch list items expected to be finished in early 2025 (weather permitting).
