~ Colorado Springs Mayor Yemi Mobolade presented Nicole Magic with the Mayor's Spirit of Colorado Springs Inspiration Award Friday at the 41st Annual Medal of Valor Dinner at The Broadmoor.

Magic, founder of the Police Foundation of Colorado Springs, was recognized for nearly two decades of service supporting Colorado Springs Police Department employees and their families.

Since 2009, Magic has led efforts to connect community support with the needs of police department personnel. Under her leadership, the foundation has raised more than $2.3 million for the department.

The funding has helped provide trauma kits and ballistic vests, supported professional development and scholarships for children of department employees, and strengthened the department's K9 unit, victim advocacy and wellness programs.

Magic has also helped organize the annual Medal of Valor Dinner for 17 years. The event recognizes law enforcement members for courage, distinguished service and commitment to Colorado Springs.

The mayor's award honors people whose leadership and service have made a meaningful impact on the community.
