GRAND JUNCTION, CO ~ ### Avatar Offroad to Move Headquarters to Grand Junction

Avatar Offroad, a manufacturer of custom adventure-vehicle accessories, is relocating its headquarters and operations from Sandy, Utah, to Grand Junction after joining Colorado's Rural Jump-Start program.

The family-owned company makes products including storage systems, roof racks, bumpers, ladders and mounting brackets for campervans and trucks. It designs, tests, manufactures and installs its equipment in-house.

Owner Wes Swearingen said Grand Junction's outdoor recreation opportunities and business community made it a natural fit for the company. Avatar Offroad was founded by a family with more than 30 years of experience in outdoor sports and metalworking.

Through the Rural Jump-Start program, the company will receive a $15,000 grant to help launch its operations and four years of tax benefits. Eligible employees may also qualify for a state personal income tax credit.

The program supports business growth and job creation in economically distressed rural Colorado counties. Avatar Offroad will also work with Colorado Mesa University to offer internships and apprenticeships.

Governor Jared Polis said the company would support local economic development while providing equipment for outdoor recreation. Officials with the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade and the Grand Junction Economic Partnership also welcomed the move, citing its potential to strengthen Mesa County's manufacturing and outdoor industries.
