DENVER ~ Denver Governor Jared Polis has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of Officer Evan Dunn, who tragically lost his life while on duty. The Golden Police Department officer was responding to a crash on Colorado 58 when he was struck by a suspected impaired driver.

The memorial service for Officer Dunn has not yet been scheduled, but the governor has requested that flags be lowered from sunrise to sundown on the day of the service. In a statement, Governor Polis expressed his deep sadness and extended his condolences to Officer Dunn's family and friends.

The governor also acknowledged the bravery and dedication of law enforcement officers like Officer Dunn, who put their lives on the line every day to protect their communities. He also wished for a speedy recovery for the injured officer involved in the incident.

In addition to his service with the Golden Police Department, Officer Dunn was also a pilot and company commander in the Colorado National Guard. His commitment to serving others will not be forgotten.
