~ Colorado Springs, CO - The U.S. Highway 24 and Peterson Road Interchange Project is set to begin its next phase this week, with the closure of the southbound right lane on Peterson Road, south of Highway 24. According to project officials, the closure is expected to last for several weeks, but may be subject to change depending on weather conditions.
While this lane will be closed, the other southbound lanes will remain open for access to Peterson Space Force Base's north gate. To assist drivers in navigating the area during this time, a map has been released showing designated green lanes for base access.

The main goal of the US Highway 24 and Peterson Project is to reconstruct the interchange in order to provide a safer, more secure, and more efficient transition to the Peterson Space Force Base North Gate. This project will not only support day-to-day base access control but also account for increased traffic capacity due to planned growth in the Pikes Peak region.
In addition to these improvements, the project also includes plans for complete transportation options within the adjacent corridors. This includes designated bus and bicycle lanes, as well as sidewalks and trails.
