Work to repair a sinkhole that opened up in July at the chapel hills mall is now complete. A city-owned stormwater pipe that runs under the mall was damaged after a large rain storm causing the large sinkhole. Once crews began work, they determined the damage was far more extensive than originally thought and it would be safer and more cost-effective to replace a longer section of deteriorating pipe to prevent further damage. The Stormwater Enterprise was able to use emergency funding set aside to repair urgent stormwater issues as they arise
