~ On the morning of July 29, 2025, a tragic traffic accident occurred in Colorado Springs involving a vehicle and a motorcycle. According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, they received a call at approximately 8:10 AM reporting the crash. The motorcycle rider was rushed to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The Major Crash Team was immediately notified and dispatched to the intersection where the incident took place to conduct an investigation. Through their findings, it was revealed that the motorcycle rider was traveling southbound on Academy Boulevard at an excessive speed. As they approached the intersection of Pace Drive, a vehicle traveling north on Academy Boulevard made a left turn in front of them.

Sadly, on July 31, 2025, CSPD received news that the motorcycle rider had passed away from their injuries at the hospital. The following day, on August 1, 2025, an autopsy was conducted by the El Paso County Coroner's Office and identified the deceased as 26-year-old Matthew Campbell.
This tragic incident marks the 33rd traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year alone. Comparatively, at this same time last year there were only 32 traffic fatalities in the city. This means that within the past year there have been a total of 50 traffic-related deaths in Colorado Springs. The CSPD urges all drivers to exercise caution and follow traffic laws to prevent further tragedies on our roads.
