On August 10, 2025, at approximately 2:18 PM, the Colorado Springs Police Department received a call for service regarding a shooting in the 4100 block of Sod House Trail. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased adult male and a deceased adult female, both suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The Homicide unit responded and assumed the investigation.
On August 11, 2025, the El Paso County Coroner's Office conducted an autopsy and identified the deceased individuals as 45-year-old Tanya Burnside and 42-year-old Bryce Tallent. While the coroner's officer will determine the cause and manner of death, Ms. Burnside's death is being investigated as a homicide, and Mr. Tallent's death is being investigated as a suicide.
