~ The City Council of Colorado Springs is seeking passionate individuals to join various Boards, Commissions, and Committees in order to shape the future of the vibrant city. These volunteer positions are essential for the community's growth and development.
One of the opportunities available is a position on the Fire Board of Appeals. This board meets every 2nd Friday of each month at 8:30 a.m. and currently has one vacancy for a voting member who is an owner or representative of a large business in manufacturing or sales. The responsibilities of this board include making and adopting supplemental rules and regulations, granting variances to the Fire Prevention Code, and determining the suitability of alternate materials and types of construction. They also review all Fire Department administrative regulations and policies related to the enforcement/interpretation of the Fire Code.

Another opportunity for volunteers is on the Stormwater Advisory Committee. This committee provides citizen input to City Council on the stormwater system and enterprise operations. They also advise and make recommendations on projects to be undertaken. The committee meets quarterly, every third Thursday of the month at 2 p.m. There is currently one vacancy for a nonprofit representative.
Interested individuals can apply by Friday, August 15, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. Applications can be submitted online at ColoradoSprings.gov/boards or emailed to Ayana Garcia at Ayana.Garcia@coloradosprings.gov. They can also be mailed to City Council, Attention: Ayana Garcia, 107 N Nevada Suite #300, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
