Colorado Springs: Motorcyclist Identified from Fatal Crash in the 200 Block of North Weber Street

~ A tragic motorcycle accident occurred in Colorado Springs on July 27, 2025, resulting in the death of 60-year-old Richard Mondragon. According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, the crash took place at approximately 7:18 PM at the intersection of North Weber Street and East Bijou Street.

Upon arrival at the scene, authorities discovered that a motorcycle had turned left from westbound Platte Avenue onto North Weber Street. However, while traveling on Weber Street, the rider lost control of the vehicle and it tipped over. The motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the crash.

Both the rider and a passenger were injured in the accident and were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The rider was listed as being in critical condition while the passenger was reported to be in stable condition. It was later revealed that neither individual was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Sadly, on July 28, 2025, CSPD received news that Richard Mondragon had passed away from his injuries while still at the hospital. The El Paso County Coroners' Office conducted an autopsy on July 29 and confirmed his identity.

This incident marks as the 32nd traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year. Surprisingly, this number is identical to last year's statistics at this same time. In total, there have been 49 traffic fatalities within a span of 365 days in Colorado Springs. The CSPD continues to urge drivers to practice caution and follow all traffic laws to prevent further tragedies on their roads.
