LAKEWOOD, Colo., Jan. 31, 2025 ~ Renowned author, artist, and animation historian Mindy Johnson will be speaking at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design (RMCAD) on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, as part of the college's Visiting Artist, Scholar, + Designer (VASD) Program. The event will take place at 5:30 p.m. MT and can be attended in person or viewed online.
Johnson's talk will focus on the pursuit of historical truth in the face of imperfect sources, with a particular emphasis on the stories of female animators who have often been overlooked and under-documented. As a recipient of prestigious awards such as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences – Film Scholar Award, the ASIFA-Hollywood Animation Educators Forum Grant, and a Family Choice Award, Johnson is a leading authority in animation and film history.

Her published works include Ink & Paint – The Women of Walt Disney's Animation and Tinker Bell – An Evolution. She has also contributed to notable projects such as The Walt Disney Film Archives –The Animated Movies 1921-1968 and Marc Davis: Walt Disney's Renaissance Man. In addition to her impressive body of work, Johnson served as an associate producer for the award-winning documentary Pencils vs. Pixels.
