COLORADO SPRINGS ~ Catalyst Campus for Technology & Innovation has expanded its aerospace and defense workforce training facilities in Colorado Springs, with support from the state's Opportunity Now Tax Credit.
Lt. Gov. Dianne Primavera joined Catalyst Campus, the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) and local leaders for a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the expansion. The project adds about 15,000 square feet of training space, according to the announcement.
The facility will offer training in software and application development, modeling and simulation, artificial intelligence and autonomy, data science and engineering, sensors and edge computing, and cybersecurity.
Gov. Jared Polis said the investment is expected to help train and retain 700 jobs over the next 15 years. He said the expansion would support Colorado's aerospace and defense workforce and strengthen the state's role in national security technology.

Catalyst Campus Founder Kevin O'Neil said the facility is doubling in size to meet demand for skilled workers. The organization connects government mission owners with small businesses and other industry partners to develop and deploy technologies for national security challenges, according to the announcement.
OEDIT Executive Director Eve Lieberman said the tax credit supports employer-led workforce training and job placement. Primavera said the expansion would connect workers, small businesses and industry partners and create more opportunities for Coloradans.
The Opportunity Now Tax Credit is open to Colorado businesses in aerospace, manufacturing, semiconductors, quantum, fusion and other advanced industries, according to OEDIT. It can cover up to 50% of estimated qualified costs for equipment and facilities that expand workforce training and job placement. The program has between $7.5 million and $15 million in tax credits available annually.
The announcement said tax credit certificates will be issued between January 2026 and January 2033, and this year's application window closes July 20, 2026. The tax credit follows the state's Opportunity Now grant program, which invested $92 million in workforce training and job placement across high-growth industries.
