LAFAYETTE, Colo. - ColoradoDesk -- Veteran software architect and former Microsoft Access team member Geoffrey Griffith will headline the Access Express Australia user group meeting on April 16, 2026, at 6:30 PM PDT. In a session titled "Building AI Applications in Microsoft Access," Geoff will demonstrate how to bridge the gap between legacy desktop databases and modern artificial intelligence. Drawing on over 30 years of Microsoft Access development experience, Geoff will showcase his AccGPT app, a custom Access application that leverages the OpenRouter.ai API to connect Access to the latest industry-leading AI models. Attendees will learn how to integrate currently available AI capabilities directly into their Access database programs, to provide new functionality or just extend existing features within their own apps.
The presentation will offer a deep dive into practical AI implementations, including AI-driven chat interfaces, image generation, and prompt expansion tools. Geoff will also show his "AI Test Kitchen," a specialized environment for testing system instructions and comparing the performance of various models available via OpenRouter. Of particular interest to developers, the session will include a review of VBA code generation via AI, to compare the logic and syntax produced by different AI models to determine which provides the most accurate and efficient code for Access projects.
