DENVER ~ In a recent announcement, Governor Polis has appointed Michael B. Garlan to the Adams County Court in the 17th Judicial District. This decision comes after the previous judge, Honorable Courtney L. Dinnel, was appointed to the Mesa County Court. The appointment is effective immediately.

Garlan brings a wealth of experience to his new role as he has been serving as a Magistrate in the 17th Judicial District since 2023. His focus has been on handling criminal cases. Prior to this, he held various positions including Managing Member at Meza & Garlan, LLC from 2022-2023, Associate at Craig D. Johnson and Associates, P.C. from 2018-2022, Solo Practitioner at the Law Office of Michael Garlan, LLC from 2015-2018, and Deputy Public Defender in the Pueblo Office of the Colorado State Public Defender from 2007-2015.

Garlan's educational background includes a B.S. from the University of Colorado in 2003 and a J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law in 2007. With his extensive experience and qualifications, Garlan is well-equipped to serve as a judge in Adams County Court and uphold justice for its citizens.
