~ Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services have announced the reopening of North Cheyenne Cañon Road and Gold Camp Road within North Cheyenne Cañon Park on Thursday, July 2. This comes after weeks of extensive cleanup and repair work following recent storm damage.
City crews have been hard at work to ensure safe public access to the park. Their efforts included removing large amounts of scree and storm debris, repairing damage on Gold Camp Road, clearing roadside culverts, removing vegetation, installing new roadway crossing markings and signs, and continuing repairs on the park's historic stone retaining walls.

Scott Abbott, Regional Parks, Trails and Open Space Manager expressed gratitude towards the community for their patience during this process. He also commended the hard work put in by city crews to make this reopening possible.
In celebration of Independence Day on Saturday, July 4, North Cheyenne Cañon Park will be open to vehicle traffic until 2 p.m. or until it reaches capacity. However, Gold Camp Road will remain closed for the entire day to manage visitor safety and traffic. Visitors are advised to arrive early and expect heavy traffic. They are also reminded to follow all posted signs and directions from park staff.
The reopening of North Cheyenne Cañon Park is a welcome news for residents and visitors alike. It provides an opportunity for people to enjoy the natural beauty of the park while adhering to safety measures put in place by park staff.
