From August 23 ~ Colorado Springs Police Department Joins Front Range Agencies in Coordinated Enforcement Effort

From August 23–29, 2026, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) joined forces with law enforcement agencies across the Front Range in a coordinated effort to crack down on expired vehicle registrations and unregistered vehicles. This surge in enforcement was organized in response to community concerns about the number of vehicles operating with expired or missing registrations.

During the weeklong effort, participating agencies reported a total of 955 citations being issued. The CSPD alone issued 313 citations, followed by the Aurora Police Department with 275 citations and the Denver Police Department with 251 citations. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office, Fountain Police Department, Manitou Springs Police Department, and Monument Police Department also contributed to the effort with a combined total of 116 citations.

While this zero tolerance surge enforcement has now concluded, CSPD and its regional partners remain committed to actively enforcing vehicle registration requirements. Moving violations such as speeding, distracted and reckless driving, and driving under the influence will continue to be top priorities for law enforcement.

The main goal of this coordinated effort was not only to issue citations but also to encourage compliance and remind vehicle owners of their responsibility to keep their registration current. Proper vehicle registration not only supports accountability on Colorado roadways but also ensures that vehicle owners contribute to public services and infrastructure through registration fees.

CSPD is urging all vehicle owners to check their registration status and promptly address any expired registrations.
