~ Colorado Springs Mayor Yemi Mobolade has announced that nominations are now open for the 2025 Mayor's Young Leader Awards. These awards recognize the exceptional achievements of young professionals, aged 18 to 40, who have made a positive impact on the Colorado Springs community.
Nominees must either live or work in Colorado Springs and cannot be current employees of the City of Colorado Springs. Nominations must be submitted by August 31st and winners will be announced at an award ceremony on November 5th from 6-8 p.m. at the Pinery at the Hill. Ticket sales will be announced at a later date.
Mayor Mobolade himself was a recipient of the first award in the Community and Economic Impact category when the program was launched under former mayor Steve Bach in 2015. Since then, a total of 62 individuals have been honored with these prestigious awards.
There are seven categories in which a young leader can be nominated: Community Impact, Creative Industry, Economic Impact, Education, Military Leader, Sports/Health/Wellness, and Technology/Sustainability. Each category recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to their respective fields and have positively impacted their community.

The Community Impact category honors those who have measurably improved their community through volunteer efforts, board service, or sustainable social responsibility initiatives. The Creative Industry category recognizes individuals who have used creative methods to transform their industry and demonstrate how art and business can work together for positive change.
The Economic Impact category celebrates those who have made measurable contributions to the local economy through their business ventures or community involvement. The Education category acknowledges individuals who have taken innovative approaches to improve education and foster future generations of innovative thinkers.
The Military Leader category honors active-duty individuals who exemplify integrity and excellence in service both within and outside of their military roles. The Sports/Health/Wellness category recognizes those who have made significant contributions as health and wellness champions, improving the lives of others physically, emotionally, and mentally.
Lastly, the Technology/Sustainability category acknowledges individuals who have made advancements in technology and sustainability to improve the productivity and efficiency of the city and make it a better place for future generations.
