Colorado Springs: City seeks public feedback on draft Southeast Strong Community Plan

Trending...
~ The City of Colorado Springs is seeking input from the public on the draft of the Southeast Strong Community Plan, which will play a crucial role in guiding future growth and development in the southeast area of the city. This plan, which is the first community planning project under the Neighborhood Planning Program, will address important topics such as transportation, economic development, cultural celebration, housing, climate resiliency, public safety, and public health. It focuses specifically on six neighborhoods: Deerfield Hills, Pikes Peak Park North, Pikes Peak Park South, Soaring Eagles, Southborough, and Spring Creek.

Interim Planning Director Kevin Walker expressed excitement about sharing the draft plan with residents and receiving their feedback. "We are excited to share the draft Southeast Strong Community Plan with the public and receive additional feedback from those residents who live and work in the southeast and know the area best," said Walker. "This is the first of twelve community plans the City will be creating and it will play an important role in continuing to inform the future of southeast Colorado Springs."

The Neighborhood Planning Program was created to implement the six vision themes for development outlined in the city's comprehensive plan, PlanCOS. This program aims to ensure an equitable planning process for all neighborhoods and produce practical community plans that address the unique characteristics and needs of each locality within city limits. The ultimate goal is to have each neighborhood covered by one of the twelve community plans, allowing for comprehensive and guided management of proposed developments. More information about this program can be found at ColoradoSprings.gov/NeighborhoodPlans.
