COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - ColoradoDesk -- Michelle Harris invites the community to a free AI Confidence Conversation on June 27 at Library 21c, built around the questions national AI policy has left unanswered.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — An estimated 600,000 Black women were pushed out of the workforce in 2025, according to Brookings and Bureau of Labor Statistics data, many of them experienced, college-educated professionals displaced by federal layoffs and shifting hiring priorities. Colorado Springs entrepreneur Michelle Harris says the same AI tools reshaping the job market can also help redirect those skills — but the conversation has to start somewhere.
On Saturday, June 27, Harris is hosting AI Confidence: A Conversation, a free community event at Library 21c built around questions including:
1. If AI is shaping every major industry, what does it mean that entire communities were never invited into that conversation?
2. What is the cost of AI anxiety — and who is paying it most?
3. What does economic dignity look like when a Black woman becomes the AI expert in her own community?

4. If the policy will not close the confidence gap — who will?
"These are skilled, experienced women," said Harris, founder of Bookshelf AI Publishing Solutions LLC and creator of the BLAQ Framework™. "What they need isn't another program telling them to start over. They need a space to ask these questions out loud — and the confidence to use AI to write their own next chapter."
