~ Residents of the Pikes Peak region will have the opportunity to learn about their rights as renters at a free workshop on Wednesday, June 17. The Renter Rights 101 workshop will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fountain Library, located at 230 S. Main St., Fountain, as well as online.
The workshop aims to educate renters on their rights and responsibilities, provide guidance on common housing issues, and connect them with local organizations that support housing stability. Led by Colorado Legal Services attorney Clinton Albert, the session will cover important topics such as lease agreements, reasonable accommodations and modifications, security deposits, repairs, and eviction processes. Attendees will also have the chance to learn about available housing and legal resources in the community. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation; however, presenters are unable to provide legal advice for individual situations.

To participate in the workshop either in person or virtually, interested individuals can register at ColoradoSprings.gov/Renter-Rights. Optional registration allows participants to receive a copy of the presentation slides and a recording of the workshop after it concludes.
The City of Colorado Springs Housing and Homelessness Response Department is presenting this workshop in partnership with Colorado Legal Services and other community organizations. In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 ("ADA") and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, accommodations will be made for qualified individuals with disabilities or Limited English Proficiency who require auxiliary aids or language services to participate in this event. Requests should be made at least 48 hours before the scheduled event by calling (719) 385-5859 or emailing HousingAndHomelessnessResponse.SMB@coloradosprings.gov.
