Colorado Springs: Applications open for “Survive and Thrive: Accelerate COS” summer cohort

~ Colorado Springs, CO - Exponential Impact, in collaboration with the City of Colorado Springs, has announced the opening of applications for their Summer 2025 Survive and Thrive: Accelerate COS Small Business Loan Program. This program aims to provide support to small businesses in El Paso County by offering low-interest, non-collateralized loans of up to $50,000 and an eight-week entrepreneurial support program.

According to Shawna Lippert, Economic Development Manager at the City of Colorado Springs, "The City of Colorado Springs is excited to continue its partnership with Exponential Impact to support our small business community through the Survive and Thrive: Accelerate COS program." Lippert encourages local businesses to take advantage of this opportunity for capital, mentorship, education, and community.

Eligible businesses must be headquartered in El Paso County with less than 50 full-time employees and at least six months of operating revenue. This loan program is ideal for businesses looking for growth opportunities, planning to hire and train employees, redefining their business model, or facing challenges in accessing traditional financing.

Max Cupp, Executive Director of Exponential Impact expressed his excitement for another successful cohort this summer. "Survive and Thrive offers more than just funding," said Cupp. "It provides lasting community connections, personalized mentorship, and real-time support for business challenges."

To receive the full loan amount, participants must complete an eight-week program that includes personalized mentor pods or groups and expert-led sessions covering various topics such as finance, leadership, marketing, operational strategies and personal growth. The sessions will be held on Wednesdays from 1-3 p.m. from July 9-August 27 with a graduation ceremony on September 3 from 5-7 p.m.

Accepted businesses will receive a three-year loan at a fixed interest rate starting at 2% in Year 1 (or 0% if repaid in full by year-end), 3% in Year 2, and 4% in Year 3. Brian Laycock, owner of Urban Animal Brewing, shared his positive experience with the program. "As a first-time business owner and first-time participant in this type of program, I was not sure what to expect," said Laycock. "After completing the Survive & Thrive Program, I have not only learned many useful skills and approaches to improve my small business, but also connected with others in my position for advice and help. This will allow me to create a better environment for both my staff and customers and give us the best opportunity for success."
