Outdoor journalist Ryleigh Norgrove launches a new blog chronicling stories from the frontlines of climbing, land justice, and cultural resistance. Her recent work appears in Climbing Magazine, Gripped, and Outside Online.
VAIL, Colo. - ColoradoDesk -- Some stories don't end. They just shift shape.
Dispatches from the Edge is my new home for those stories—the ones that don't always find their way into tidy columns or neat editor's briefs. It's for field notes written in the margins, for moments between interviews, and for the thoughts that linger long after something goes to print.
I report on climbing, public land, and people fighting for access, identity, and survival. My recent stories have run in Climbing Magazine and Gripped, covering topics like the fight to protect Oak Flat, grassroots DEI efforts in the climbing world, and the stakes of losing physical and cultural ground.
Dispatches from the Edge is where I'll write between the assignments. It's a space for honesty, and for honoring the wild—the physical places, yes, but also the wildness inside the stories we carry.
