~ Colorado Springs, CO - Jessie Kimber, the Economic Development Director and military affairs liaison for the City of Colorado Springs, was honored today as the 2024 Fort Carson Good Neighbor. The induction ceremony took place on May 7th and was presided over by Maj. Gen. David Doyle, commanding general of the 4th Infantry Division.

Kimber's selection to join this prestigious group was a result of her unwavering support and dedication to Fort Carson soldiers, families, and civilians. In her acceptance speech, Kimber expressed her gratitude for being chosen and stated, "I am humbled and honored to join the ranks of those who have given so much to our military community here in Colorado Springs, the best hometown in the Army." She also acknowledged that her work would not have been possible without the support of numerous nonprofits and volunteers who continuously show up for military families and servicemembers.

With a 24-year career in the Navy under her belt, Kimber has made a significant impact on the lives of soldiers and their families through various military-centric initiatives. She has been instrumental in hosting or participating in over 140 career workshops and hiring fairs, providing assistance to more than 220 military spouses and family members in Colorado through a partnership with the Fort Carson Employment Readiness Program. Additionally, Kimber leads community outreach projects that aid veterans transitioning from military to civilian life by providing them with crucial resources for success outside of the military. Her efforts have strengthened the relationship between Fort Carson and its surrounding areas.

The Good Neighbor program at Fort Carson has been recognizing outstanding civilians from surrounding communities since 1978. With only 48 inductees thus far, it is considered a great honor to be chosen as a Good Neighbor. The last City of Colorado Springs employee to receive this recognition was Police Chief Pete Carey in 2013.

As part of this program, Kimber will be invited to future Fort Carson ceremonies and events where she will continue to collaborate with leadership to make Fort Carson the best hometown in the Army. Her induction serves as a testament to her dedication and commitment to serving the military community and making a positive impact on their lives.
