Colorado: Gov. Polis and Gov. Cox Release Joint Statement Urging for Federal Government to Prevent Shutdown

DENVER ~ Governors Polis and Cox of the National Governors Association (NGA) released a joint statement today, urging the federal government to pass a continuing resolution in order to prevent a federal government shutdown. The governors warned that such an event would jeopardize national security, public health and social services, economic growth, transportation systems and National Parks and public lands.

In response to this potential threat, Governor Polis issued an Executive Order yesterday directing the Department of Natural Resources to create a plan that would keep Colorado's national parks and other federal lands open during a shutdown. The governors called on the House of Representatives and Senate to pass a continuing resolution this week in order to avoid these impacts.
