PUEBLO ~ PUEBLO - The 153rd Colorado State Fair was graced with the presence of Governor Jared Polis today as he met with farmers and ranchers from all corners of the state. The event served as a celebration of Colorado's thriving agricultural sector and a showcase of everything that makes the state a top destination to live, work, and play.
In his address, Governor Polis emphasized the vital role that farmers and ranchers play in the success of the Colorado State Fair. He expressed his excitement to be among fellow Coloradans who share a passion for agricultural excellence, particularly highlighting the beloved Pueblo chile and other locally grown products. The governor encouraged everyone to come out and indulge in Colorado cuisine while enjoying all that the state has to offer.
Joining Governor Polis at the fair was Kate Greenberg, Colorado's Commissioner of Agriculture. She spoke about how the fair not only displays the abundance of agriculture in the state but also honors the hard work and dedication of farmers and ranchers. From youth livestock competitions to horse shows, rodeos, and more, Greenberg emphasized how this event brings people together to celebrate what unites them.

The governor then made his way to the Centennial Farm and Ranch Celebration, an annual event co-hosted by History Colorado and the Colorado Department of Agriculture. This event recognizes families who have been involved in agriculture for over 100 years in Colorado. Governor Polis also visited AgVenture Land, an area at the fair dedicated to educating young Coloradans about sustainable agriculture practices such as soil health and conservation.
At AgVenture Land, Governor Polis took some time to read a book to children before moving on to meet with Pueblo Fire Chief Barb Huber. They discussed the grand opening of Fire Station 11, which will improve response times and enhance firefighter safety. The building is also net-zero energy efficient thanks to a grant awarded by the city of Pueblo, making it a model for sustainable infrastructure.
Governor Polis then welcomed incoming students and their families to Colorado State University-Pueblo for the 2025-2026 academic year. He joined in on the welcome week ice cream social, encouraging students to embrace new opportunities and find their passions. The governor praised Colorado's excellent college system, which prepares students for future jobs and drives the state's economy forward.

The day concluded with Governor Polis visiting Di Santi Farms, where he took a tour and helped harvest Pueblo chiles. The DiSanti family has been farming in Pueblo since 1890 and has evolved into a retail and wholesale grower of 26 different crops marketed throughout the state. Governor Polis expressed his pride in meeting with the DiSanti family and learning about their dedication to producing some of the best chiles and crops in Colorado.
In the evening, Governor Polis joined members of the Colorado State Legislature at the Legislative BBQ. This event is an opportunity for public servants to come together and celebrate Colorado's world-class agriculture community and the success of the state fair. Despite having to call a special session due to budget impacts, Governor Polis made it a priority to attend this event and show his support for the agriculture community.
As Governor Polis continues to prioritize agriculture in Colorado, events like these serve as a reminder of its importance in driving the state's economy forward.
