Pikes Peak ~ Pikes Peak - America's Mountain is teaming up with Colorado Springs Utilities and Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) to host the third annual Youth Fishing Derby. The event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Crystal Creek Reservoir.
Journalists are invited to attend and cover the event, which is open to registered youth anglers aged 6 to 15 and their parents or guardians. The event will take place rain or shine and there is no cost for participation or fishing license required for youth.

The first 100 youth anglers to register will receive free fishing gear. Before heading out onto the water, volunteers will provide a brief demonstration on essential skills such as casting, knot tying, baiting, and handling fish safely.
In addition to enjoying a day of fishing, participants will have the opportunity to compete for prizes in various fish categories, adding a fun element of friendly competition. The Derby will conclude with an awards ceremony at 11:30 a.m. to recognize all youth anglers, followed by a complimentary lunch.
