~ Colorado Springs Fire Department to Host Living with Wildfire Town Halls
The Colorado Springs Fire Department, in collaboration with various community partners, has announced that they will be hosting a series of Living with Wildfire Town Halls. These town halls aim to educate and empower the community on how to be prepared for a wildfire.
Residents are encouraged to attend these town halls where they will learn about the ongoing threat of wildfires and how to prepare their homes for such emergencies. They will also receive information on how to be notified of an emergency, what should be included in their emergency plan, and details on evacuations during an emergency. Additionally, eligible residents will have the opportunity to sign up for the Neighborhood Chipping Program and emergency alerts through PeakAlerts.

This year, the CSFD has expanded the locations of these town halls and will customize them based on the wildfire risk in each specific area. Three meetings will be held for citizens living in the Wildland Urban Interface, while two meetings will cater to those living in the Prairie Urban Interface. Depending on attendance, more meetings may be added.
The town halls will feature presentations from representatives of CSFD Wildfire Mitigation and Operations, El Paso Teller 9-1-1 Authority, Pikes Peak Regional Office of Emergency Management, Springs Utilities, and the Colorado Springs Police Department.
The first meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 13 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Woodmen Valley Chapel located at 290 E. Woodmen Rd. Residents are encouraged to attend and gain valuable knowledge on how to protect themselves and their homes from wildfires.
