~ Colorado Springs, CO - The Colorado Springs Police Department has announced that Dustin Cole Rottinghaus, a convicted sex offender, will be on unsupervised release and has relocated to an address within the city. According to Colorado law, the community must be notified of his presence.
Rottinghaus has been labeled as a "Sexually Violent Predator" (SVP) by the Colorado Courts due to his past behavior. In compliance with state regulations, the police department has taken several steps to inform and protect the community.
Firstly, they have notified the Colorado Department of Public Safety's Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB) Notification Team. Additionally, they have reviewed and confirmed Rottinghaus's residence, employment status, access to vehicles, legal standing, and past crimes.
The police department has also made efforts to inform neighbors and businesses in the immediate area of Rottinghaus's presence. Patrol personnel have been briefed on his status, history, appearance, residence, employment, and vehicles. Surrounding law enforcement agencies have also been notified.

To further educate the community about SVPs and the notification process, an online video has been provided on the city's website under Public Safety and Police. The video includes information about Rottinghaus specifically as well as additional resources for citizens.
It is important for Rottinghaus to register as a sex offender and understand his responsibilities in order for him to remain in compliance with the law. His criminal history shows that he was convicted of Sexual Assault on a Child in US Military Court in 2017.
Currently residing at 3718 Lander Ln., Rottinghaus is described as a 34-year-old white male with brown hair and blue eyes. He stands at 5'10" tall and weighs approximately 160lbs.
Rottinghaus is one of twenty "Sexually Violent Predators" registered with the Colorado Springs Police Department who reside in this community. The department takes his presence seriously and is committed to ensuring the safety of citizens.
For any further inquiries about Rottinghaus or the community notification process, Detective J.R. Brown of the Colorado Springs Police Department Registered Sex Offender Unit can be contacted at 719-444-7672.
