~ Local Emergency Management Officials Introduce New Interactive Map and Encourage Residents to Sign Up for Peak Alerts
Today, the Pikes Peak Regional Office of Emergency Management (PPROEM) announced the launch of a new interactive public information map and urged residents to sign up for Peak Alerts to receive official emergency notifications. The map, available at PPROEM.com/alerts, provides real-time, verified information during emergencies such as incident locations, evacuation areas, and road closures. It is directly integrated with Peak Alerts, ensuring that information is updated as soon as official notifications are issued.
According to Andrew Notbohm, executive director of PPROEM, this new map will give residents a clear and reliable way to understand what is happening during an emergency. He stated that the map is built on confirmed information from local agencies and designed to help people make safe decisions quickly.
It is important to note that while third-party maps may circulate online during emergencies, the PPROEM map serves as the official source of emergency information for the region. It includes street-level details that other third-party maps may lack.

In addition to using the new interactive map, officials strongly encourage residents to sign up for Peak Alerts at PeakAlerts.org. This system delivers urgent, location-based notifications for incidents such as wildfires, severe weather, evacuations, and other public safety emergencies.
Ben Bills, public information officer for the El Paso-Teller 911 Authority emphasized that Peak Alerts is the fastest way to receive life-safety information. However, currently only a small percentage of residents are signed up. Increasing participation in this system is critical in keeping the community safe.
Residents can customize alerts for multiple locations including home, work, and school and receive notifications through text messages, phone calls, email or mobile app. Officials stressed that relying solely on social media during emergencies can delay access to accurate information. Signing up for Peak Alerts ensures that residents receive timely and verified instructions directly from emergency officials.
To sign up or learn more about Peak Alerts, residents can visit PeakAlerts.org. The new interactive map can be viewed at PPROEM.com/alerts. With these new tools in place, local emergency management officials are confident that they will be able to provide the community with accurate and timely information during emergencies.
