~ Colorado Springs Airport (COS) has reported a successful end to the summer season, with over 220,000 travelers passing through its gates in August. According to airport officials, a total of 221,246 passengers were recorded last month, representing a slight decrease of 0.9 percent from the previous August.
Enplanements also experienced a marginal dip of 1.3 percent, totaling 110,220. This decrease can be attributed to reduced available seats based on demand and the impact of industry-wide aircraft delivery. In comparison to August 2023, there were 6.1 percent more available seats in the market this year, with a total of 132,817 seats.
Despite the decrease in available seats and passengers, planes at COS were operating at full capacity. The average load factor for August was recorded at an impressive 83 percent, marking a 4 percent increase from the same period last year.
As fall approaches and seasonal flights come to an end around Labor Day weekend, COS is gearing up for holiday travel with seasonal service to San Diego (SAN) and San Antonio (SAT). These flights will operate on peak days in November, December, and January. Travelers are encouraged to start planning their holiday and spring trips as most airlines have already released their spring schedules.

In addition to holiday travel options, significant construction developments are expected at COS as ElevateCOS – the airport's concourse modernization project – progresses. This project aims to modernize the terminal while addressing accessibility and sustainability improvements.
COS currently offers six daily nonstop flights with easy connecting service across the U.S. and worldwide. This includes twice daily nonstop service to Atlanta (ATL), daily nonstop service to Salt Lake City (SLC), and daily nonstop service to Baltimore/Washington (BWI). Seasonal service to San Diego (SAN) and San Antonio (SAT) will also be available on peak days in November, December, and January.
For travelers looking to connect to other destinations, COS offers daily nonstops to Denver (DEN) with easy connections coast-to-coast. Additionally, there are three daily nonstop destinations with easy connections coast-to-coast and worldwide. In total, there are 12 daily nonstop flights to Denver (DEN) from COS.
With a successful summer season behind them and exciting developments on the horizon, Colorado Springs Airport is ready to welcome travelers for their holiday and spring trips.
