Evergreen Surety Launches New Page for Banks and Financial Institutions

Trending...
LITTLETON, Colo. - ColoradoDesk -- Evergreen Surety has published a new page covering the surety bonds banks and financial institutions need. The agency places bonds for banks, mortgage companies, credit unions, and financial institutions nationwide, and it specializes in complex, non-standard commercial surety programs: the ones that generalist agencies either decline or handle poorly. Evergreen is appointed with 15 surety carriers.

The page opens with a pattern common in this segment: financial institution bond programs are rarely simple. Financial guarantees, FDIC bonds, insurance deductible bonds, and multi-state mortgage lender programs each call for specific carrier relationships, underwriting experience, and bond form expertise. When those capabilities aren't there, the client ends up with a workaround, usually a letter of credit, rather than the commercial surety solution that actually fits.

A section called Why Surety-Only Matters Here explains what changes when an agency doesn't sell anything else. Inside a generalist agency, the surety person competes internally for attention against property, casualty, and benefits, and usually loses. At Evergreen, every carrier relationship and every underwriting conversation is built around surety.

Tom Patton has more than 15 years of experience placing commercial surety programs for banks and financial institutions, and he's a member of the National Association of Surety Bond Producers and a former President of the Rocky Mountain Surety Association.

The new page from Evergreen Surety also breaks down the mortgage lender, banker, and broker bonds it places:
  • Mortgage banker and lender bonds, which state regulators require as a condition of licensure, with amounts set by statute that vary widely from state to state.
  • Mortgage broker bonds, which fall under separate state licensing and often carry different amounts and form requirements than lender bonds in the same state.
  • Warehouse lender bonds, which guarantee a borrower's obligations under a warehouse lending agreement and vary in structure and amount by agreement.

The page also covers surety-backed letters of credit, an instrument Evergreen is one of the nation's largest producers of.
