Free celebration pairs low-water plants and reclaimed garden tools with live music, artists, food trucks, and family-friendly activities.

BOULDER, Colo. - ColoradoDesk -- Nonprofit Resource Central is welcoming the community to celebrate the end of summer sustainably with low-water plants and garden essentials at its Fall Plant & Garden Tool Sale on Saturday, September 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Materials Reuse facility, 6400 Arapahoe Road in Boulder.

Visitors can browse thousands of individual waterwise plants from Resource Central's Garden In A Box program, alongside a wide selection of discounted reclaimed garden tools, landscaping materials, pots, and planters, all at prices well below typical retail. The event also marks the final Rock & Reuse summer concert series of the season, with live music, food, and activities running from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

When gates open to the public at 9:00 a.m., the community can browse individual plants, perfect for creating a drought-tolerant garden and ready for planting, plus a selection of reclaimed garden tools and landscaping materials perfect for finishing out the season's outdoor projects.

From 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Rock & Reuse activities will include live music from DJ Dane, tacos from Los Dos Bros, ice cream from Pint's Peak, conservation resources at the Resource Central tent, program information from Eco-Cycle, gear repairs and swag from Boulder Sports Recycler, clean-energy activities from ChargeBug, project information from Perks Deconstruction, and live glassblowing and art from local artists Brian Cofran and Jacqueline McKinny, along with local art from Kieuly Dang and information. Families can also check out Resource Central's flatbed truck and forklift during a children's touch-a-truck experience from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

"Saturday's Rock & Reuse brings together so much of what Resource Central is about: helping people conserve water, keep useful materials out of the landfill, and make sustainable choices that are practical and affordable," said Neal Lurie, President & CEO of Resource Central. "As we close out summer and continue to celebrate 50 years of conservation, it's a great opportunity to bring our community together, get yards ready for fall, and inspire the next season of waterwise gardening and reuse."

Since 2003, Resource Central's Garden In A Box program has helped Coloradans replace lawns into low-water gardens with plant by number kits that cut water use without sacrificing color or curb appeal. Many of the plant varieties available at the sale also support biodiversity, making it easy to build a pollinator-friendly garden alongside a lower water bill.

As the summer winds down, Resource Central is encouraging gardeners and supporters to join the Garden In A Box 2027 Interest List & Newsletter at ResourceCentral.org/gardens/interestlist. Subscribers get the first look at next year's newest garden collections, a reminder when gardens are available for preordering, and free waterwise gardening tips.

Rock & Reuse is part of Resource Central's 50th anniversary celebration, marking five decades of helping the community conserve water, reduce waste, and live more sustainably.
