DENVER ~ Denver - Governor Jared Polis has revealed new renderings of the highly anticipated Colorado 150 Pedestrian Walkway, which will serve as a connection between Lincoln Veterans Park and commemorate the state's rich history. The project, designed by Studio Gang and other renowned firms, is expected to be completed in the summer of 2026.

The 11,000 square foot walkway aims to improve connectivity and accessibility among downtown Denver's major public spaces and monuments. It also offers a unique experience that combines art, culture, and history in celebration of Colorado's 150th anniversary. Governor Polis expressed his excitement for the project, stating that it will have a positive impact on the community.

"I'm thrilled that Coloradans can now visualize this walkway and its amazing positive impact on our community," said Governor Polis. "Now, when Coloradans of all ages come to visit our State Capitol, they can more easily access and enjoy Lincoln Veterans Park while enjoying and learning from art from local artists."

The design of the walkway is inspired by Colorado's diverse topography, particularly its flowing rivers. It naturally winds its way from the Colorado State Capitol building to Lincoln Veterans Park. The materials used in the design pay tribute to Colorado's geology, with sandstone, marble, and granite being prominently featured.

In addition to serving as a connection between two important landmarks in Denver, the walkway will also include various features such as viewing platforms, sculptural monuments, play elements, and learning opportunities for people of all ages. Local artists have been commissioned to create new artwork for the walkway.

The Colorado 150 Pedestrian Walkway is a result of a public-private partnership led by the Governor's Office and the P3 Office at the Colorado Department of Personnel & Administration alongside History Colorado. It will serve as a new gateway to downtown Denver and contribute to ongoing efforts to revitalize the Civic Center area. This includes renovations to the Denver Central Library, upgrades to the Denver Art Museum, and the recently opened Populus hotel.

The project will also be a part of the Civic Center Next 100 initiative, which aims to improve the Civic Center area for the next 100 years. This includes improvements to the Greek Theater and Central Promenade in Civic Center Park, which are also being designed by Studio Gang.

The new renderings of the Colorado 150 Pedestrian Walkway will be shared at the Mizel Institute Annual Event this evening. For more information on the walkway and other events celebrating Colorado's 150th anniversary, visit celebrate.colorado.gov.
