~ Castle Rock, CO - In a continued effort to break down barriers to new housing, Colorado's leadership has resulted in the creation of 200 new homes for hardworking Coloradans. Governor Jared Polis unveiled the Meadowmark community in Castle Rock today, showcasing the success of last year's legislation aimed at creating more transit-oriented communities and eliminating discriminatory occupancy limits.

The legislation also removed costly parking restrictions and gave Coloradans the freedom to build Accessory Dwelling Units on their property. These efforts have helped bring more affordable housing options to communities across the state.

Governor Polis expressed his satisfaction with the progress made so far, stating that "each grand opening of new homes proves that by removing unnecessary government barriers, the market is responding to the deep need for more housing Coloradans can afford." He also emphasized his commitment to continue building on this progress and creating more housing options for Coloradans and their families.

In addition to supporting legislation for modular housing and single-stair buildings, Governor Polis is also advocating for more support for the construction of affordable condos and utilizing school and church lands for housing development.

The governor further highlighted Colorado's emphasis on creating pathways to opportunity for everyone by attending the Emily Griffith Women in the Trades Celebration. He praised Colorado women in trades and their contribution to strengthening the state's workforce and economy.

Governor Polis stated that "in Colorado, the trades are for everyone" and emphasized his administration's focus on connecting all Coloradans with skills needed for well-paying jobs. This includes creating new opportunities and pathways for women to join trades.

Earlier this month, bipartisan legislation was signed by Governor Polis to create a new Associate of Applied Science degree at Emily Griffith Technical College. This will provide students from all backgrounds with opportunities to participate in apprenticeships in fields such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical work, and more.

Colorado's leadership in breaking down barriers to new housing continues to make a positive impact on the state's economy and workforce. With the support of Governor Polis and his administration, more Coloradans will have access to affordable housing and opportunities for economic growth.
