~ Governor Jared Polis made a visit to Eagle and Garfield Counties on the Western Slope today. The purpose of his visit was to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and meet with members of the community.
The day began with a celebration at FirstBank Fiestas, where Governor Polis joined in the festivities and met with Coloradans in attendance. In a statement, he expressed his appreciation for Hispanic Coloradans and their contributions to the state's history and future.
Next, Governor Polis visited Gypsum Creek Middle School in Eagle County. During his visit, he had the opportunity to interact with students and educators. The school is also located near a new pre-school facility and employee housing complex that will serve the county.
"It is always a pleasure to meet our extraordinary students and educators here in Colorado," said Governor Polis. "Our students are our future, and we are committed to providing them with the resources they need to succeed both inside and outside of the classroom."

Afterwards, Governor Polis toured Colorado Mountain College Spring Valley at Glenwood Springs. He met with Political Science students who are part of the Red, White, and Blue Club - a student-led organization that promotes civic engagement and voter registration on campus.
"I am inspired by these young leaders who are making their voices heard," said Governor Polis. "Colorado takes pride in being a leader in voting access and security, and I appreciate these students' commitment to our democracy."
The governor also attended the Stepping Up for Youth Fundraiser, an annual event hosted by Stepping Stones of the Roaring Fork Valley. This organization offers free tutoring, mentorship programs, outdoor activities, mental health counseling, and crisis support to around 400 young people in Aspen and Parachute.
"Stepping Stones is an invaluable resource for Coloradans on the Western Slope," said Governor Polis. "It not only provides support for young people, but also encourages them to pursue careers in social work and psychology, and build meaningful relationships within their community."
Governor Polis' visit to Eagle and Garfield Counties highlights his commitment to celebrating diversity, supporting education, and investing in the future of Colorado's youth.
