DENVER ~ In a historic moment for the state of Colorado, Governor Jared Polis and Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera unveiled a new permanent exhibit at the Colorado State Capitol today. The exhibit, commissioned as part of the state's 150th anniversary of statehood celebrations, honors the 50 individuals who have served as Lieutenant Governors in Colorado's history.

This marks the first time that Lt. Governors of Colorado have been visually represented in the Capitol, reflecting the diverse history of the state and allowing visitors to learn about the Office of the Lt. Governor and its evolving role in state history.

During the unveiling ceremony, Governor Polis expressed his gratitude for serving alongside Lt. Governor Primavera and highlighted her current efforts to grow Colorado's aerospace economy, make healthcare more affordable, increase national service through AmeriCorps, strengthen tribal government relationships, and create a more inclusive state for all citizens.

Lt. Governor Primavera also spoke at the event, emphasizing the importance of showcasing the changing roles of the Office of Lt. Governor over time and its statewide impacts. She expressed her hope that visitors to the State Capitol will be inspired by this exhibit and imagine themselves in this role, encouraging more people to feel empowered to take on leadership positions and make positive changes in their communities.

The reception included remarks from former Lt. Governors Donna Lynne and Joe Garcia, as well as Annie Levinsky from History Colorado. The final panel of the exhibit intentionally leaves its bottom row blank as a space reserved for future lieutenant governors.

The exhibit is now on permanent public display at the State Capitol in Denver, providing an opportunity for all visitors to learn about and appreciate the contributions of Colorado's Lieutenant Governors throughout history.
