City Council invites community engagement: Volunteer for Colorado Springs boards, commissions, and committees

~ The City Council of Colorado Springs is seeking passionate individuals to join various Boards, Commissions, and Committees in order to shape the future of the vibrant city. These volunteers will play a pivotal role in the community's growth and development.

One of the opportunities available is a position on the Fire Board of Appeals. This board is responsible for hearing and deciding appeals related to orders, decisions, or determinations made by the fire code official or their designee. The board meets on the 2nd Friday of every month at 8:30 a.m. and currently has one vacancy for a voting member who must be a licensed architect. Interested individuals can apply by Friday, July 31, 2026.

Another opportunity for volunteering is on the Downtown Review Board. This board meets monthly to review downtown development applications using the Downtown Colorado Springs Form-Based Code regulating plan. Before applying, interested individuals are encouraged to review the Downtown Form-Based Zone Boundaries. The board meets on the 1st Tuesday of every month at 9:00 a.m. and currently has one vacancy for a voting member who must be a Downtown Form-Based Zone Property Owner. The deadline to apply is also Friday, July 31, 2026.
