Polis Administration Announces Return of Popular Colorado E-Bike Rebates

WHEAT RIDGE ~ Wheat Ridge, Colorado - On August 24, 2026, eligible Coloradans will have the opportunity to apply for the relaunched E-bike Rebates program. This initiative, announced by Governor Polis and the Colorado Energy Office (CEO), aims to provide point-of-sale rebates for qualifying e-bike purchases to more than 2,800 eligible Coloradans over the next year.

The initial E-Bike Rebate program was open from Summer 2023 until Spring 2025 and was a huge success, with nearly 8,000 Coloradans taking advantage of the rebates and saving over $9.75 million on e-bike purchases. With a total of $3 million in funding from the Community Access Enterprise for the current fiscal year, CEO plans to continue providing rebates to support e-bike purchases.

Governor Polis expressed his excitement about the relaunch of the program, stating that e-bikes are not only fun and convenient but also help reduce traffic congestion and contribute to Colorado's clean air and climate goals. He believes that e-bikes are the future and hopes that more Coloradans will take advantage of these money-saving rebates.

During the initial run of this initiative, more than 34,000 Coloradans applied for rebates. Of those who received a rebate, 89% said they would not have purchased an e-bike without it. By replacing an average of 2.85 private vehicle trips per week with e-bike rides, rebate recipients have avoided estimated annual emissions equivalent to 8.85 million miles driven in a traditional gas-powered car.

To be eligible for the rebates, individuals must live in Colorado and have a household income at or below 80% of the area median income in their county. The standard rebate will be worth $1,000, with additional savings available for e-cargo bike and adaptive e-bike purchases.

Registration for the rebates will open on a quarterly basis over the next year. Each registration round will be open for one week, and Coloradans can register at any time during that period. The first round of registration will open on August 24, 2026 at 11:00 AM MT and close on August 31, 2026 at 12:00 PM MT. During the initial registration period, individuals only need to submit their name and contact information. After the registration period closes, CEO will randomly select registrants to receive rebates and notify them via email. Selected registrants will then have one week to submit proof of income and address to confirm their eligibility. To redeem the rebate, recipients must purchase a qualifying e-bike in-person or over the phone from a participating retailer. Recipients of the Colorado E-Bike Rebate may also combine it with the Colorado E-Bike Tax Credit discount if they purchase from a retailer participating in both programs. To ensure that as many Coloradans as possible can access incentives to make e-bikes more affordable, recipients may not combine the state rebate with local incentives on the same e-bike purchase.
