COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – North Cheyenne Canyon Road, within North Cheyenne Cañon Park, will be closed daily Monday-Friday from May 3-28 to allow for the movement of construction material during a parking lot improvement project. Gold Camp Road from the northern boundary of North Cheyenne Cañon Park to Helen Hunt Falls, will also be closed daily during this time. The project timeline is weather dependent.
During the closure, North Cheyenne Canyon Road is closed to all users. Trails will remain open to non-motorized recreational use. Gold Camp Road will be open to recreational users, including hikers, cyclists, equestrians and motorized vehicles under 50" width. All users are advised to slow down and be aware of construction vehicles in the area.

The temporary weekday closure of North Cheyenne Canyon Road is necessary due to the boulder that is currently blocking Gold Camp Road. Due to the blockage, construction vehicles cannot access Gold Camp Road as planned and will be using North Cheyenne Canyon Road instead. The USDA Forest Service is continuing its work to assess and remove the boulder.
The construction project will improve and expand the existing gravel parking lot that is located uphill of Helen Hunt Falls at the intersection of North Cheyenne Canyon Road, High Drive and Gold Camp Road. The current parking lot count will be increased from 75 non-designated spaces to 92 designated stalls. Concrete curb and gutter will be added, along with a paved asphalt surface and accessible parking spaces.
