~ Colorado Springs Police Department's K9s Nyx and Blue will soon be receiving bullet and stab protective vests, thanks to a generous donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. The vests were sponsored by Jennifer Brown and Natalie Jensen, along with others from Peyton, CO.
K9 Nyx's vest will be embroidered with the heartfelt sentiment "In honor of Detective Jared S. Jensen", while K9 Blue's vest will bear the words "In honor of protecting all that serve and protect". The delivery of these custom-fitted vests is expected within the next ten weeks.
Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. was established in 2009 with a mission to provide protective vests and other assistance to law enforcement dogs throughout the United States. These vests are U.S.-made, certified by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), and have proven to be potentially lifesaving for K9 officers. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has donated over 5,970 vests valued at $6.9 million to K9s in all 50 states, thanks to donations from both private individuals and corporations.
