~ Construction on the North Stone Avenue Stormwater Improvements Project is set to begin this week, causing lane impacts for motorists. The project, which aims to reduce drainage issues in the area and improve stormwater infrastructure, will start with the installation of a water main at the intersection of North Stone Avenue and Fillmore Street.
According to project officials, the construction will result in several changes for drivers. Street parking along the project corridor will not be allowed from April 2026 through early 2027. However, one southbound lane on the east side of North Stone Avenue will remain open and traffic will be guided through the work zone with cones and signage. Access to nearby businesses will also be maintained, with efforts made to minimize disruptions.
Motorists are advised to expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible. The project schedule is subject to change depending on weather conditions.

The North Stone Avenue Stormwater Improvements Project has been in progress since November 2025 with utility work already underway. The project includes installing new stormwater pipes and drains, relocating a water main, and repairing areas affected by construction. These improvements will not only address current drainage issues but also allow property owners to connect to the new stormwater system in the future.
Once construction is complete, crews will restore affected areas including road surfaces, curbs and gutters, driveways, and landscaping within the work zone. The City of Colorado Springs, Stormwater Enterprise, and Colorado Springs Utilities are working together to coordinate this project in order to minimize impacts on the community.
