~ Colorado Springs City Engineer and Deputy Director of Public Works, Gayle Sturdivant, was recently honored with the prestigious General Palmer Award by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Colorado. This award is given to nonmembers who have made significant contributions to the state, received recognition in the engineering community, and impacted future generations.

Sturdivant is only the second recipient from Southern Colorado in the 37-year history of the award. Bill Hoffman, who presented the award to Sturdivant at a ceremony on April 24th at Hotel Polaris, praised her for her leadership in infrastructure development, procurement, project delivery, and asset management. He also noted that her work has shaped Colorado's engineering landscape and set high standards for future projects.

In addition to her technical expertise, Sturdivant is also committed to mentorship and advancing the project management profession. Rich Mulledy, Public Works Director for the City of Colorado Springs, described her as "one of the best engineers in all of Colorado" and praised her talent, ability, leadership, and dedication.

Sturdivant holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Seattle University and has been in her current role for five years. During this time, she has overseen some of the most transformative infrastructure projects in Colorado Springs including the Circle Drive Bridges Replacement and Marksheffel Road Widening.
