~ Colorado Springs - The Fillmore Street bridge maintenance project, located east of Interstate 25 between Tremont Street and Sinton Road, is set to be completed and all lanes will be open for use on Friday, Dec. 20. This announcement was made by city officials who have been overseeing the project.
The maintenance work, which has been ongoing for eight months, involved repairs to the bridge deck on both structures, as well as waterproofing and an asphalt overlay. These improvements were necessary to ensure the safety and longevity of the bridges.

While the completed maintenance work will provide temporary relief, the city has a longer-term plan in place to replace these bridges. According to officials, the bridges are still safe for travel and undergo regular inspections. However, they are nearing the end of their service life.
Funding for this project comes from the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority (PPRTA) A-list project and a Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) Bridge Investment Program (BIP) Planning Grant. The city encourages residents to visit coloradosprings.gov/FillmoreBridgeImprovementsI25 for more information about the project and future opportunities for public engagement.
