~ Starting on Tuesday, May 27 at 7 p.m., Dublin Boulevard will be closed between Fieler Drive and Mustang Rim Drive. The closure is expected to last until August 1 and is part of a construction project to improve the road.
According to officials, the closure was strategically planned to coincide with summer break at Pioneer Technology and Arts Academy (PTAA). This will minimize the impact on the school community and travelers who use Dublin Boulevard. Additionally, the closure will allow construction crews to complete the project six months earlier than originally planned.
During this time, the intersection of Dublin Boulevard and Peterson Road will also be closed. Access will be limited to Fire Station 21 for authorized personnel only. Mustang Rim Drive will also be closed north of Dublin Road to Chickasaw Way, but south of Dublin Road will remain open. Those needing access to PTAA during this time can do so from the south via the Peterson Road/Hawk Wind Boulevard intersection.

To help drivers navigate around the closure, several detour routes will be signed and alternate routes are advised. The primary detour route is Tutt Boulevard to Stetson Hills Boulevard to Peterson Road to Issaquah Drive south of Dublin Boulevard. A secondary eastbound detour on Dublin Boulevard will direct traffic left on Black Forest Road, left on Wolf Ridge Road, left on Templeton Gap Road, right on Tutt Boulevard, right on Woodmen Road and right on Marksheffel Road.
The construction project aims to improve Dublin Boulevard from a two-lane road to two lanes in each direction with shoulders. A raised median will also be constructed to match other sections of Dublin Boulevard. Other improvements include a ten-foot multi-use path along both sides of the street, trail connections along Sand Creek, and a new traffic signal at Issaquah Drive. Drainage upgrades such as storm sewer pipes, inlets, and water quality structures are also included in the project.
It is important to note that the construction schedule is weather-dependent and may change. To stay updated on travel impacts and traffic pattern changes, individuals can text DUBLIN to 866-762-3640 to receive text alerts, call the project hotline at 719-472-3065, or visit the project webpage at coloradosprings.gov/dublin. Drivers are advised to plan ahead and use caution when traveling in the area during this time.
