Colorado Springs: Driver Pulled from Submerged Car in Prospect Lake Passes Away; Identity Confirmed

~ On the evening of February 19, 2026, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) received numerous reports of a vehicle submerged in Prospect Lake. Responding to the calls, officers and personnel from the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) immediately began rescue operations.

After reaching the vehicle, first responders discovered a single occupant inside. The driver was quickly extricated and rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment. Despite extensive efforts to save their life, the individual tragically succumbed to their injuries.

In light of the circumstances, the CSPD Major Crash Team was notified and took over the investigation. As of now, no charges have been filed and the case remains open and active.

Recently, on April 24, 2026, the El Paso County Coroner's Office informed CSPD that they had identified the deceased driver as 39-year-old Cedric Harp.

This incident marks the 18th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year alone. In comparison, at this time last year, there were only nine traffic fatalities recorded in the city. Over the past year, there have been a total of 65 traffic-related deaths in Colorado Springs.
