~ On the evening of April 12th, 2026, tragedy struck in Colorado Springs as a motorcycle and vehicle collided on Hancock Expressway. According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), the incident occurred at approximately 10:06 p.m. and resulted in the death of the motorcycle rider.
Preliminary investigation by CSPD revealed that the motorcycle was traveling at a high speed when it crashed into the rear of a moving vehicle in front of it. The impact was fatal for the rider, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

In response to the circumstances of the crash, CSPD's Major Crash Team (MCT) took over the investigation. They suspect that speed may have been a contributing factor in this tragic incident.
Two days later, on April 14th, 2026, an autopsy was conducted by the El Paso County Coroner's Office on the deceased individual. He was identified as 39-year-old Jeffrey Lampman.
As of now, no formal charges have been filed and the investigation remains ongoing. This marks the 15th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs for 2026, which is almost double compared to this time last year when there were only seven fatalities. In total, there have been 62 traffic-related deaths in Colorado Springs over the past year.
