DENVER ~ Denver - In a press conference today, Governor Jared Polis and the Division of Fire Prevention and Control provided an update on the resources that Colorado has provided to assist in fighting the devastating fires in California.
Governor Polis expressed his condolences for the lives lost and devastation caused by the fires, stating that they serve as a reminder that fire can strike at any time and anywhere. He also acknowledged that Colorado has experienced its fair share of destructive fires and is proud to offer support to the southern California communities in need.
"I am deeply appreciative of the women and men from state government and local governments across Colorado who are lending a hand in California's time of need," said Governor Polis.
Mike Morgan, Director of the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention & Control, echoed this sentiment, stating that DFPC and the Colorado Fire Service remain committed to supporting their partners and neighbors during times of crisis. He emphasized the importance of collaboration and mutual aid in wildfire response efforts across the West.
On January 8th, DFPC's Multi-Mission Aircraft (MMA) was deployed to California at the request of CAL FIRE. The aircraft, which departed from Colorado with a pilot and two Mission Sensor Operators on board, is being used to gather crucial intelligence to aid firefighting efforts on the ground.

The Colorado Division of Fire Prevention & Control also provided three agency representatives to act as liaisons for all their resources deployed in California. This ensures that personnel are well taken care of while they assist with firefighting efforts.
The resource orders for January 8th included DFPC's Multi-Mission Aircraft, as well as the Hartsel Fire Protection District, Castle Rock Fire & Rescue, Southern Arkansas Fire Protection District, Four Mile Fire Protection District, and Stratmoor Hills Fire Protection District.
