ENGLEWOOD ~ ENGLEWOOD - Englewood Middle School has been selected as one of the recipients of the 2025 NLGA Lt. Governors STEM Scholarship Program, announced by Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera. The school will receive $1,000 as part of a national call for applications to fund STEM programming and curriculum.

Lt. Governor Primavera expressed her excitement for Colorado students to engage in hands-on STEM learning that promotes sustainability and creativity. She believes that projects like the one at Englewood Middle School empower students to think critically, solve real-world problems, and care for the planet.

The school plans to use the scholarship to fund a project on Sustainability and Upcycling for students in grades 6 to 8. Using the "engineering design process" and STEM principles, students will repurpose old materials such as mini-blinds to create an upcycled piece of artwork. This project aims to develop resourcefulness, creativity, and mindful consumption among students while reducing their ecological footprint.

NLGA opened the application period for the STEM Scholarship Program in January 2025 and received over 125 requests from schools in 32 states and territories. Out of these, only twelve schools were awarded $500 - $1,000 for STEM-related expenses.
