DENVER ~ Denver, CO - In a show of respect and honor, Governor Polis has ordered flags to be flown at half staff today in memory of Sergeant Benjamin N. Pennington. The 1st Space Battalion, 1st Space Brigade member tragically lost his life on March 8, 2026 during Operation Epic Fury while stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado.
The date for Sergeant Pennington's memorial service has yet to be announced, but the governor has made it clear that the entire state is mourning alongside the family and friends of the fallen soldier. In a statement, Governor Polis expressed his condolences and gratitude for Sergeant Pennington's service and bravery.
