Colorado: Governor Polis Discusses Devastating Tariffs with GeoTech Manufacturer, Highlights New Housing and Innovative Language Learning Opportunities

DENVER ~ Denver, CO - Governor Jared Polis visited the French American School of Denver this morning to highlight the importance of language skills in preparing Colorado students for success in a global society. The school, which offers a unique bilingual immersion curriculum for K-5 students, is the only tuition-free immersion public charter school in Denver.

During his visit, Governor Polis expressed his excitement about the ways in which schools like the French American School are equipping students with the necessary skills to thrive in both the classroom and future workforce. He also mentioned his recent visits to Chinese and Spanish immersion schools, further emphasizing his support for language education.

Later in the afternoon, Governor Polis made a stop at GeoTech Environmental Equipment, a Colorado-based manufacturer facing challenges due to President Trump's tariff taxes. The governor discussed how these tariffs are causing market uncertainty and hindering investment, ultimately hurting Colorado's manufacturing industry and job market. GeoTech specializes in water quality, weather sensing, and aerial surveying products.

"Colorado manufacturers like GeoTech play a crucial role in our economy by creating good-paying jobs," said Governor Polis. "However, they are being hindered by the President's erratic tariffs. It is time for him to leave these failed policies behind and provide our businesses with the certainty they need to grow and thrive."

Governor Polis then visited Joli, a new development that will provide 126 new homes for hardworking Coloradans. The development also includes a food incubator space for local culinary entrepreneurs to grow their businesses.

"Colorado continues to lead the way in breaking down barriers to affordable housing," said Governor Polis. "This exciting development not only provides much-needed homes for hardworking families but also supports our economy by creating opportunities for culinary businesses."

Last year, Governor Polis signed legislation aimed at creating more transit-oriented communities and eliminating discriminatory occupancy limits and costly parking restrictions. This year, he is supporting additional legislation that will break down barriers for modular housing, allow for the construction of more single-story buildings, and support the development of more affordable condos.

Governor Polis's efforts to promote language education and support Colorado's economy through affordable housing initiatives demonstrate his commitment to ensuring a successful future for all Coloradans.
